Slowly Slowly catch your Monkey..
An old expression John Buchan once told me.
Giles made a phone call from the British High commission in Yaoundé and we now have an appointment with his opposite at the Congo DRC at 3pm this afternoon to revisit our application.
The south Africans have been asked to resubmit with references, which their Embassy have provided for them. The British High Commission are not able to help us any further for the moment, but we will see how our appointment this afternoon goes.

Well we tried, but the consulate from the Congo DRC didn’t turn up.
We were never issued a receipt for the first application fee. Therefore before we left the Congo DRC Embassy this afternoon I requested that we have a receipt or the application letters returned.
The two secretarial staff, fussed for half an hour, but rather than issue a receipt gave the administration fee back from their pockets. Presumably if the fee was non refundable a receipt would be normal process. Others who have recently had similar experiences here believe that there is some sort of scam going on, for staff to make easy money, by taking the application fee and not processing the documents.
Our South African Friends are convinced the whole thing is a corrupt way of making money for the staff here and they will continue with their embassies support to progress in Yaoundé and expose the scam.
As we are time restricted, we are sad to leave our Jean and and Family but must therefore proceed to the Gabon border and then the Congo republic and re apply for our Congo DRC visa at Brazzaville.
The roads ahead are non existent in places so I think we will have our work cut out.
We will copy this note to the British High commission and update the website only when appropriate.

Yesterday the weather turned wet and this morning it was teaming down on the canvass. the roads in Gabon are very muddy and we spoke to a British couple that have come up from the south. They have reported that it is wet and care will be required when we progress south later.

A sight on the road to Mamfe earlier in the week.
