I dont know what it is about this place but the last time we were here it rained. Zurk said last night they have had no rain since April, but last night after returning to the Roof top, it rained like Ive very rarley seen before. A monster storm and needless to say a wet tent, matress etc. Charlies ensuite even leaked. The new thatching not completley set.
After a very enjoyable breakfast we went for a tour round the farm, this time taking our own vehicle. The farm has 800 Spring bock, Kudu Eland, Gemsbock, Steinbock, 200 Zebra and many other indigenous species.Marinda sent us on our way to the fish River Canyon with some Southern Oryx (Gemsbock) steaks for our bbq tonight.
This photo shot outside the Seehiem Hotel, these guys spent the whole day trying to get out.
We are currentley stopped for tea at the Canon Road House, where we took refuge on 2006 after some serious flooding blocked our route to the Fish River Canyon.
After a cup of tea here at the road house we went for an evening viewing of the Fish River Canyon, where we caught up with another overland crew that we have been meeting at various different camps on the way south.
The Canyon covers a vast area and is a very impressive sight.
We were spoilt for choice for Camping near the Canyon area. There is the on site facility called Hobas, that offers just camping and ablutions’, the Road House, for Camping or rooms, Ais Ais that is still under renovation so no rooms available but camping and ablutions. Finally the Mountain Lodge Camp site that currently offers, bungalows, rooms but not officially camping. This is where we ended up staying, the hospitality was great as was the food.

( 2.9 / 148 )Charlie enjoyed a night in the roof top tent but at 4.30am was rudley awakened by Martins who had been attacked in his ground tent by ants and other biting insects. Having woken early we decide to head off to the dunes 60 km away.
After a walk up the dunes at 6am this morning and waiting for the sunrise we head back from Seisuflais (correct spelling later)for breakfst.
At 4pm we arrive at Seeheim and join Zirkie and Mirinda Kloppers. They have a Hotel, a furniture business and approx 16000 ha farm near by. We will eat Kudu with them tonight and a have a farm visit in the morning.
Then off to Fish River Canyon.

This morning after returning from breakfast we find 510 Namibian rand missing from luggage, the management will let us know in due course weather this turns up at a later date.
After a good grease up the prop shaft which sheds the water taken in last night, we change the air filter for the first time and top up oil.
We make our way to the Skeleton Coast, gravel roads to start and eventually the Salt coastal roads.
At Cape Cross it looks like lots of improvements have taken place since the last visit. New viewing plat forms for seal watchers and a new approach road.
Desert Sky, a place to camp in Swakopmund is where we eventually stop the landy.
